Faculty from the Junior High School joined in the first Ignatian Conversation of the school year, which discussed the role and nature of social media, last July 19, 2017 at the Finster Auditorium, Jacinto campus.

Centering on the theme, “Tool and Environment: Why are you Interesting in Social Media?”, the conversation aimed to direct its audience to the nature and impact of social media in one’s life.

Fr. Jessel Gerard Gonzales, S.J., the Assistant Director for Formation of the Senior High School, as the resource speaker, explained the different aspects of the new medium. He further discussed how the students could use social media as a tool and how social media is an environment in itself.

“This Ignatian Conversation was conceived to rouse the consciousness of various stakeholders on the multi-dimensional implications and impact of accessing and using the social media,” noted Ms. Excesima Pasilan, the Junior High School Assistant Principal for Formation.

She further remarked that the conversation may guide the audience, especially the students “towards a critical understanding of the nature of social media.”

Also, she mentioned that social media would hopefully “contribute to the shaping of culture and building of relationships among people and societies.”

Ignatian Conversations, such as the aforementioned, are organized by the Ignatian Spirituality and Formation Office (ISFO). It is in line with the University’s vision of appropriating the Ignatian spirituality to the students and the community in general.
